Kali Linux

Kali Linux comes from the creators of BackTrack Yes you guessed it they are Offensive Security team. Kali Linux is the most versatile and advanced penetration testing distro. Kali Linux updates its tools, and it is available for many different platforms like VMware, ARM, and many more, one of my favorite is Kali Linux on Raspberry Pi. You can find all over here.

BackBox

BackBox is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. It has been developed to perform penetration tests and security assessments. BackBox is lightweight OS and requires less hardware specification. Designed to be fast, easy to use and provide a minimal yet complete desktop environment, thanks to its own software repositories, always being updated to the latest stable version of the most used and best known ethical hacking tools.

DEFT

DEFT Association is an non-profit association. They provide a reliable and powerful Penetration testing distribution of Linux. You can download DEFT ISO or VMware virtual machine image from their official website.

Live Hacking OS

Live Hacking OS is also based on Linux, you know why. It is also a big pack of hacking tools used for Penetration testing. It includes the graphical user interface GNOME inbuilt. There is a second variation available which is command line only. And requires very less hardware requirement.

The Samurai Web Testing Framework is a live linux distro which is pre-configured with Web penetration testing tools. TEXT SELECTION KEYS

These combinations interoperate with the mouse so you can start selecting with the mouse and continue with one of these commands, or vice versa.

Selection Key Combination	Description
SHIFT + LEFT ARROW	Moves the cursor to the left one character, extending the selection.
SHIFT + RIGHT ARROW	Moves the cursor to the right one character, extending the selection.
SHIFT + UP ARROW	Selects text up line by line starting from the location of the insertion point.
SHIFT + DOWN ARROW	Extends text selection down one line, starting at the location of the insertion point.
SHIFT + END	If cursor is in current line being edited * First time extends selection to the last character in the input line. * Second consecutive press extends selection to the right margin. Else Selects text from the insertion point to the right margin.
SHIFT + HOME	If cursor is in current line being edited * First time extends selection to the character immediately after the command prompt. * Second consecutive press extends selection to the left margin. Else Extends selection to the left margin.
SHIFT + PAGE DOWN	Extends selection down one screen.
SHIFT + PAGE UP	Extends selection up one screen.
CTRL + SHIFT + RIGHT ARROW	Extends the selection one word to the right.
CTRL + SHIFT + LEFT ARROW	Extends the selection one word to the left.
CTRL + SHIFT + HOME	Extend selection to the beginning of the screen buffer.
CTRL + SHIFT + END	Extend selection to the end of the screen buffer.
CTRL + A	If cursor is in current line being edited Selects all text after the prompt. (phase 1) Else Selects the entire buffer. (phase 2)

EXTRA FUN WITH CTRL + A

CTRL + A behavior is interesting. Regardless of the state of mark mode and quick edit mode, one of two things should happen. Either the entire buffer is selected, or (only in a single case) '2-Phase select' starts. 2-Phase select is the process where the first CTRL-A selects the characters to the right of the edit line prompt, and the second press selects the entire buffer.

EDITING KEYS

As I mentioned above you can copy and paste text with the keyboard. When copying text, you might worry that CTRL + C has always been the BREAK command. This is a nice touch, it will still send the break signal to the running application when no text is selected. The first CTRL-C copies the text and clears the selection, and the second one signals the break. Nice attention to detail, IMHO.

MARK MODE KEYS

These keys function in mark mode. You can enter this mode by right-clicking anywhere in the console title bar and choosing Edit->Mark from the context menu as before, or via the new shortcut combination, CTRL-M. In the original console, mark mode resulted in block mode text selection. While in mark mode, you can hold down the ALT key at the start of a text selection command to use block mode in the new console. The selection key combinations above are all available in mark mode. CTRL + SHIFT + ARROW operations select by character and not by word while in mark mode.

CTRL + M	Enter "Mark Mode" to move cursor within window.
ALT	In conjunction with one of the selection key combinations, begins selection in block mode.
ARROW KEYS	Move cursor in the direction specified.
PAGE KEYS	Move cursor by one page in the direction specified.
CTRL + HOME	Move cursor to beginning of buffer.
CTRL + END	Move cursor to end of buffer.

HISTORY NAVIGATION KEYS

Fiction deaths from Archie to Tom to Spidey

While cartoons, comics and fiction has always had its share of deaths, rarely have the lead or equally important characters been killed off. With Archie's death in Life with Archie, the iconic comic series is set to end.

Millions of fans worldwide are heartbroken with the demise of the freckled boy-next-door. But he is not the only one whose death left people sad globally. Here are some other popular characters that were killed off similarly.

TOM AND JERRY
Yes, they died in the episode Blue Cat Blues. Jerry tries his best to stop the debt ridden and heartbroken Tom from committing suicide but in vain. The little mouse thanks his stars for having a loyal girlfriend but is deeply pained to see her going off with another mouse in a car with a 'Just Married' plank on it. The episode ends with the lovable characters ending their lives by coming under a moving train.

SPIDER-MAN
The web-spinning hero faced death at the hands of Doctor Octopus, after swinging into the hearts of millions. In The Amazing Spider-Man #700, Peter Parker dies while battling the scientist turned villain Otto Octavius but not before doing the final good deed. During his last moments Spidey gives Doctor Octopus all his memories and helps him realise how he has wasted his life in villainy. Basically, Peter dies but Spider-Man's principles live on with the transformed Doctor Octopus.

SUPERMAN
In the comic The Death of Superman, the superhero is shown to have died after succumbing to his injuries. The story is about a destructive machine man named Doomsday who wreaks havoc in Metropolis and goes on a killing spree. Superman succeeds in killing him but ends up losing his life as well. An animation film named Superman: Doomsday based on the plot also showed Superman being resurrected with full powers by a robot.

BRIAN GRIFFIN
Family Guyfans were in for a shock last November when the beloved family dog Brian was killed off in an episode of the series. Seth MacFarlane,the creator of the show,explained the decision as a "lesson to all fans that teaches us not to take our loved ones for granted because they can be gone in a flash."Following widespread reactions from fans,Brian was brought back from the dead a few weeks later.

SHERLOCK HOLMES
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed the detective from Baker Street in The Final Problem. Sherlock and his arch-rival James Moriarty die in a fight at the Reichenbach Falls in the story that was supposed to be the last one of the series because Doyle wanted to devote more time to his other literary works. But due to pressure from fans he had to bring the detective back to life in The Adventure of the Empty House. This event has been replicated in plays, films and TV shows based on the detective, the series Sherlockbeing the latest example.

EDDARD STARK
Game of Thronesis full of shockers and sudden deaths make up most of these. But out of the many deaths that have been seen on the show (and many more to come), it was Ned Stark's beheading that elicited a gasp from almost every viewer. The Winterfell patriarch died in as early as the first season of the series and while many hoped for it, there has been no resurrection for Sean Bean's iconic character on the show till date.

BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY
Helen Fielding gave a massive jolt to the literary world when she killed off Dr Mark Darcy, the book's romantic hero and Bridget's love interest,in the third volume of the popular book series. Darcy's character was immortalised in the film versions of the book by actor Colin Firth and his death in Mad About The Boy had Twitter exploding with reactions from fans who were angry and sad at the same time
